Today is one of the most important day for this blog as I am writing 551th blog post for this blog post. I can’t believe this..yeah this blog has completed 550 blog post.

People I like to thank:

First of all I like to thank my parents for whatever I am without them I could not even stand near where I am right now!!.  Then I would like to thank my wife without her support it would not have been possible to write this 551 blog post..So thank you sweetheart. My younger brother who has been moral support for me whenever I feel low or something was not working my way. My little champ who give me all energy that I have. Whole MVP community and friends where I learn so many things and off course readers of this blog. Without readers this blog is not there where it is right now!!

How I started blogging:

Actually  I was not serious about blogging I just show a blog with blogspot domain and for curiosity I have also registered a blog actually at that time I have registered it with my name like http://jalpesh.blogspot.com. At that time I have no idea that what blog is. After registering blog for first month I have not done anything and one one day I just goggled my name and I found my blog listing over there even if I have not written anything. I feel excited and decided I should write some thing and that’s how I have started writing.

Earlier I was just writing blog posts to make a repository of my code whatever I have done in my professional life. But when I came Ahmedabad at that time I understand the true value of blog and then I started taking it very seriously and started writing blog post that can help others and me to learn new things.

Then I brought my own domain last year http://www.dotnetjalps.com to create my own brand.

This blog is my journey of learning and I believe in this journey and continue to walk on it that’s why I have made title of this blog post still counting!!

New Milestone for Dotnetjalps.com-500000 visits for my blog

Today I got great news from sitemeter.com that my blog http://www.dotnetjalps.com completed 500,000 visitors for my blog. This is a new milestone achieved for this blog and I would like to thank all my blog readers for making this blog this much bigger.

www.dotnetjalps.com new domain for personal blog

After more then 4 years of blogging I have decided to migration my personal blog to its own domain http://www.dotnetjalps.com. There are few reasons why I have migrated my blog to new domain.
  1. Custom domain is your own identity. So you can create your brand.
  2. Now all page ranks and All SEO belongs to my custom domain instead of blogger platform.
  3. SEO will be more easy then standard custom domain.
  4. I want to reach more people and its easy with your custom domain
  5. People will share bookmarks with my custom domain. So If I migrated my blog to another plate all things will remain same.
  6. PageRank was increasing with subdomains very slowly. While with custom it will increase faster.
  7. In lots of companies I have seen block blog word with custom domain its will removed. So more people can reach at my blog when they need me.
Here is a great link which inspired me a lot for migrating my blog to http://jalpesh.blogspot.com to http://www.dotnetjalps.com.

Note: I have not change my feeds address for personal blog. So RSS feeds will remain same at- http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/DotNetJalps.

On this opportunity once again I would like thanks my reader and my supporters for making me whatever I am. Without you guys it would not have been possible. You are the real hero for me. So please keep reading my blogs and send me suggestions to make better and better.

One another great news is that DZone people send me a certificate for my DZone MVB. So I would like to take this opportunity to  share with you guys.

When I started this blog before four Years I was not serious about blogging. I was just started this blog to register domain against my name. After a while I was inspired by great community bloggers like ScottGu,Pinal Dave,Jacob Sebastian and some other friends like Vivek Patel. Then I started blogging seriously but at that time I was not aware of how to blog. I was just writing whatever I like or whatever I have found. I have no idea of syntax highlighting, blogging technique and SEO. Day by day I learned a lot and started working on things and as a Result of it Today I got 400th Blog post on my this blog.

I would like to thanks each and every reader and my fellow community blogger to helping me achieve this. Without them I could not achieve this.

Still I have seen there are lots of exceptional developers who are not writing blog. I would like to recommend that please read my blog post “Why a developer should blog?”. I must say once again that If you are doing great work then you should share it with the community and get their views of what you are doing.

On this occasion I would love to share some thoughts on blogging like following.
  1. Do not write blog to increase your blog post or get any recognition . Instead of this write your blog for self pride and community.
  2. Do no worry about who is going to read this blog. How you can increase your readers instead of that keep writing blogs and one day you will achieve whatever you like to do. Read your blog post once you posted it on your blog and it will give you great joy and satisfaction.
  3. keep inspired by your fellow community bloggers and try to improve your blogging.
  4. If you are technical blogger then Keep your post to give a complete solution of a problem because if readers will not get complete solution then they got frustrated with you.
  5. Learn and explore new things and share you experience on you blog.
  6. Always be good listener and you will learn a lot.
  7. Nobody knows everything. We all are learning everyday something so keep doing mistakes but learn from those mistakes and try to not repeat the same mistakes again.
Statistics of my blog:

On this occasion I would like to share my statistics of blog below are my statistics of blogStastics

Once again I would like to thank the readers and all the fellow bloggers without them it was not possible to achieve this. Keep blogging.. Stay tuned for more..

New blogger template for My blog - DotNetJaps

I have changed my blogger template to newer version of blogger. Hope you guys liked it. There are some difficulties over there but I still love the changes that blogger has offered. I know my old version of syntax highlighter is not working. But I am fixing that for all the older posts and already did it for some posts.

‘Change is in all things sweet.’

As a philosopher Aristotle has said we all should be ready to change. I have changed my blogger template due to following reasons.

  1. It’s more SEO Friendly. It is having less errors on w3c validations and It will increase search engine optimization for my blog. Still blogger template are not totally compliant like word press but blogger has decided to moved in that way so I am going to support that way.
  2. It has good way to monetize your blog.
  3. It has provided a new feature called ‘Pages’. You can create your own pages like I have created like asp.net interview questions etc. I will going to post some frequently asked interview questions over here.
  4. It has providing status same like Wordpress so its good be changed.

Why a developer should blog?

I have been blogging since last three year on my BlogSpot blog and it was quite fun writing blogs. I have started a blog as repository of my technical things and  but after some posts I realize that there are lots of people are using it and It’s a great way to express your feelings about Technical things. I have been promoting blogging among my friends and people and lots of people ask me that why a developer should blog if he has good knowledge what ever domain he is working why he should blog? A developer should only concentrate on technical things rather then writing blog or taking part in the community but I am not agree with that. Even some developers has started blogging and after some time they not writing due some reasons. Here are some facts that why a developer should blog.

  • Blogging is a great way to express your feeling about anything that you blog. Whether It’s a technical blog or whatever you are blogging about.
  • Through your blog you can show your technical expertise to real world and you can market your self. Who knows some employer are watching your blog and will offer you a job based on your technical things you are blogging.
  • You can create a repository of your technical things and later on you can retrieve that from your blog whenever you need them.
  • Teaching new things to other people is best way to learn. If you teach people they will have some question and you will become mature in that technology.
  • It will also increase your writing capabilities which will help you to manage document, write document and other things at your professional front. My writing skills are much better then when i write my first blog post.
  • Through blog you are communicating with real world and it will enhance your communication skills.
  • There are some prestigious award Like Microsoft MVP which you can only get if you are doing community work or blogging. I just have been awarded as Microsoft MVP for visual C# because of my blogging and community work.
  • After writing your blog post just read your blog post you will feel proud whatever you did.

I have also seen that lots of developers are started blog and then after some time they have decided to quit from blogging and here are some common reason.

  • I don’t have time to blog. Time management is very important thing and a Google calendar can be your friend. You can write events and notes to calendar and it will remind you that you have blog about this in this time line. One of my Friend and Guide Jacob teach me this technique. He is writer of several SQL Server books and an Microsoft MVP for SQL Server.
  • I am  not an expert of technology or I don’t know about latest technology. Lot’s of people told me what we should blog I don’t know much about latest technology. Here is my answer for that you don’t have to write about latest technology or latest trends you just need to write what you know whether it’s a new or whether its old. I am confess still I don’t know lots of things but I am blogging about whatever i know or whatever i have lean in recent days. Most of visitor of your blog will come for small articles not a advance technical articles.
  • I am not getting page hits  for my blog. Well, you don’t have to blog for page hits or anything else. Just write blog and read your post and feel proud of whatever you did. For page hits you can optimize you blog for search engine and through search engine optimization you will get page hits.
  • I am not getting positive comments for my blog. Well, People are more negative then being positive for what ever we did. Try to do your best and comment moderation will help you for this. Now days are every blogging plate form is having comment moderation. Just feel proud of whatever you did and then after some time you will realize there are so many peoples are there who are encouraging you to write more. One good comment is more encouraging then three negative comments. You will also find people who is going to tell you are writing blogs and you don’t know simple things you should have this knowledge they all are afraid of you because they know that you are far better then them. So don’t put your concentration on that just ignore them because everyone can not master everything.

Hope this will help you.. Still you have not started blogging then start it right away.
