My feed url changed

Before one year my blog has its own domain name www.dotnetjalps.com and at that time I did not changed the URL of my rss feeds. But now feed burner is providing me a way to change it without effecting my current subscribers so I have changed that to match my domain name.

Following is a new URL for my feeds.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/DotNetJalps

Please note that existing subscribers don’t have to change anything. Only the new subscribers will have that changed now.

Dotnetjalps.com- 551 blog posts and still counting!!

Today is one of the most important day for this blog as I am writing 551th blog post for this blog post. I can’t believe this..yeah this blog has completed 550 blog post.

People I like to thank:

First of all I like to thank my parents for whatever I am without them I could not even stand near where I am right now!!.  Then I would like to thank my wife without her support it would not have been possible to write this 551 blog post..So thank you sweetheart. My younger brother who has been moral support for me whenever I feel low or something was not working my way. My little champ who give me all energy that I have. Whole MVP community and friends where I learn so many things and off course readers of this blog. Without readers this blog is not there where it is right now!!

How I started blogging:

Actually  I was not serious about blogging I just show a blog with blogspot domain and for curiosity I have also registered a blog actually at that time I have registered it with my name like http://jalpesh.blogspot.com. At that time I have no idea that what blog is. After registering blog for first month I have not done anything and one one day I just goggled my name and I found my blog listing over there even if I have not written anything. I feel excited and decided I should write some thing and that’s how I have started writing.

Earlier I was just writing blog posts to make a repository of my code whatever I have done in my professional life. But when I came Ahmedabad at that time I understand the true value of blog and then I started taking it very seriously and started writing blog post that can help others and me to learn new things.

Then I brought my own domain last year http://www.dotnetjalps.com to create my own brand.

This blog is my journey of learning and I believe in this journey and continue to walk on it that’s why I have made title of this blog post still counting!!

Tips for increasing Alexa rank of your technical blog

Today I am not writing any technical post. This post is out of subject for this technical blog. But the intension of this blog to reach more and more people to help community so I am writing this. In this post I am going to explain few tips for improving Alexa rank for your technical blog.

What is Alexa Rank?

Alexa.com is a private company founded in 1996. They defined themselves as the “Web information company”. But in simple words for us Alexa is a company that measures web traffic in almost every site on the internet through their toolbar plugin. On the internet Alexa rank becomes a standard in the webmasters world. If you have good Alexa ranking then there will more people, advertisers, sponsors and visitors will be attracted your site.

Tips for increasing Alexa rank on your technical blog:

I am not kind of guru on this. I am just sharing what I have learnt from the experience. Followings are few tips that will help you increasing Alexa rank.

  1. First thing I need to clear that alexa rank and google page rank are both different. So If you are having higher page rank that does not mean that you will have higher Alexa rank. Both are measured in different way.
  2. To have perfect Alexa rank first thing you need to is to claim your site at Alexa.com. You can claim your site via putting a meta tag suggested by them. That way Alexa.com can access your site better and you could have possibly better and accurate rank over there.

Why we should write blogs and do community work

I am doing blogging since last 5 years and I have seen lots of people asking the same things. Why do you write blog? do you have any side income for this blog? Why you are so active in community ? I am answering this questions almost every day. So I decided to write a blog post about it. Following are the reason why I am writing blogs and doing community work?

Help:

I like to help people and that is one of the main reason behind the all blogs and community work. Also helping other is a great way to learn new things. Because other person may be facing a problem which you never encountered during your professional life or project you are doing!!. At the end of you can feel proud that you help somebody.

Learning:

I have to learn lots of things everyday to write my blogs. Some one said Teaching some one is best way to learn new things. It apply here also when you write blog or answer question on forum.

Earn Award and Get famous:

This is one of the advantages of writing blogs and doing community things. People will know that you are having such knowledge in respected fields. I have got Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award 3 times due to my blogging and community work. But remember one thing your first intension of doing communication work is to help people. All other things will come as other benefits.

Communication skills:

Once you communicate with lots of people and write blog it will definitely increase your communication skills. If you are writing some blogs then its going to increase your writing skills also.

Beware of Plagiarism

I was checking my backlinks on sitemeter today and I have found a blog link which is directly copy my articles from my blog to his blog without giving credits to me. Following is a link for it.

http://learndotnetwithasad.blogspot.com/

This guy has copied my articles blindly event he has copied my new dotnetjalps.com domain post.  I have told this guys to remove the articles but he was not ready to remove this. So I asked Google(Blogger support) to remove content from this link. I have sent DMCA notice to blogger support via this link.

http://www.google.com/support/bin/request.py?contact_type=lr_dmca&product=blogger

After my notice Blogger support team has removed content but still this guy is copying my blog once again.
So please beware of this guy. He can copy your content too.

As a blogger we all are putting so much time to create content and other stuff. We all know that how difficult is to write something.  This blog is for community and you can copy code from here. But please don’t steal or copy my entire content from this as I have done lots of hard word for it. At least give some credits to me. That’s all I want. I hope you can understand .. Stay tuned for more.. There are so many interesting things are coming here.

www.dotnetjalps.com new domain for personal blog

After more then 4 years of blogging I have decided to migration my personal blog to its own domain http://www.dotnetjalps.com. There are few reasons why I have migrated my blog to new domain.
  1. Custom domain is your own identity. So you can create your brand.
  2. Now all page ranks and All SEO belongs to my custom domain instead of blogger platform.
  3. SEO will be more easy then standard custom domain.
  4. I want to reach more people and its easy with your custom domain
  5. People will share bookmarks with my custom domain. So If I migrated my blog to another plate all things will remain same.
  6. PageRank was increasing with subdomains very slowly. While with custom it will increase faster.
  7. In lots of companies I have seen block blog word with custom domain its will removed. So more people can reach at my blog when they need me.
Here is a great link which inspired me a lot for migrating my blog to http://jalpesh.blogspot.com to http://www.dotnetjalps.com.

Note: I have not change my feeds address for personal blog. So RSS feeds will remain same at- http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/DotNetJalps.

On this opportunity once again I would like thanks my reader and my supporters for making me whatever I am. Without you guys it would not have been possible. You are the real hero for me. So please keep reading my blogs and send me suggestions to make better and better.

One another great news is that DZone people send me a certificate for my DZone MVB. So I would like to take this opportunity to  share with you guys.
